Bug Description
environment:
* hp laserjet 4050n with jetdirect module
* new machine with clean gutsy install, all updates until 2008/01/11 applied (some possibly relevant packages listed below)
symptoms:
* printing from gedit, OOo, ... works perfectly fine
* in the printing preferences from eog or evince, selecting the one specific available printer instead of "random printer" makes the application freeze
* printing from eog, evince makes the application freeze
some debugging:
* I raised the LogLevel to "debug" in /etc/cups/

This is for sure not a bug in Gutenprint. Gutenprint is a printer driver, it has no interaction with desktop applications. As printing works for you in other applications, your printer driver (which is not necessarily Gutenprint) is OK. The problem is most probably in the applications itself or in a library which provides their printing facilities.
