I can't reproduce the crash and it's strange. I keep the bug open but can you look please at bug #175490 and check if your crash is more similar to that one?

i can confirm this bug too. and my question is: why glipper doesn't have a transparent "frame" as the other applets have??

@Andrea: you should report a separate bug for this issue.

Hi,

having tested glipper today did not show any problems. So it seems it is fixed here.

What I did: I purged glipper, removed ~/.glipper and cleaned my package cache. After that I reinstalled glipper and added the applet. I rebooted my notebook several times, logged in and copied some text.

Kind regards
Christian

Sorry, today after several times of using glipper without having had problems, it crashed again. So the bug still exists here in hardy

Please, the bug is yet marked Triaged. Don't continue to post comments saying "me too". This can confound the developers who can close the bug.

A question: if you remove and re-add glipper to the panel (without restarting the session), does it crash?

Seems to work.

This solution might work, but i think there is something else. This bug happens to me when i login to my laptop. Sometime it won't crash but, i got the same error pop-up to remove glipper. Hope this give you a better idea.

In the session I am currently running, Glipper crashed. I then re-added it to panel and after a couple of hours it has not crashed again.

Glipper Crashes on Login in Lucid Lynx, giving the following error: [[The panel encountered a problem while loading "OAFIID:Glipper". Do you want to delete the applet from your configuration?]].
Deleting and reinstalling, doesnt help as the error repeats itself.

Affirmative, this problem with gliiper has persisted for me for years with various versions of Ubuntu and it's still present in Maverick beta. The problem is the bug is inconsistent: crashes occur in approx 25% of boots. As a workaround even after a crash the applet can be re-added (as secind instance) to the panel and it will work without rebooting
