When I enable GSConnect version 28 (as reported by GSConnect > About) in Tweaks > Extensions > GSConnect, after a while my Ubuntu 18.04 system becomes unresponsive, with the disk activity light solidly on. With it disabled, the system never becomes unresponsive.

This package should be removed from the archive. Version 20 is very old, since Jan 2019, and not compatible with gnome-shell any more.

If that's the case, let's target to series since the issue is not likely to be fixed in non-LTS releases and, by default, the current development version is what the bug is about. However, I'm not sure it's been verified in Jammy, and haven't experienced it myself. Therefore, we're confirming this for Focal, still New for Jammy, and we won't fix for Hirsute since it reaches EOL at the end of this month, and this type of thing isn't likely to make it in Impish since that's not an LTS.

Additionally, I can probably update to the latest version for Jammy for compatibility reasons, but it's not likely to get an SRU.

The version in the Ubuntu archive is incompatible with gnome-shell from Ubuntu 20.04 and higher.

Install GSConnect from the GNOME extensions website.

I just uploaded v48 to the Jammy archive. As it seems to have a commit [1] that has fixed this issue, so I'm marking this as Fix Released.

Unfortunately, this cannot be backported to earlier releases, so I'm going to have to close this bug as "Won't Fix" for those releases.
