Reproduced as follows on 18.04.1 / Gnome-Shell:

apt-get install photoprint
click on (top left) "show applications" icon and search for "photoprint".
right-click icon, add to favorites.
click icon on panel to start the application.
a separate "broken" icon now shows on the panel for the running application.
