The messages are correct. There isn't any [laserjet_mfp_m28-m31] entry in models.dat, as you can check.

When did you get the messages? When printing or scanning? Setting up? Is the device USB or network connected?

Post the outputs of

  avahi-browse -rt _ipp._tcp
  avahi-browse -rt _scanner._tcp
  avahi-browse -rt _uscan._tcp

for the device.

I ask this question as the Sane on Linux scans very slowly.
It takes a long time between press "scan" button and actually starting the scan (~40 sec).

Wherein HP Smart on Android and HP Scan on Windows 10 start scanning immediately.

On start scannig I have errors:

I'd have expected a few more lines in the output of this command. Anyway, it looks like you have hit LP #1797501

  https://bugs.launchpad.net/hplip/+bug/1797501

The solution is to find

  [hp_laserjet_mfp_m28-m31]

in models.dat and change it to

  [laserjet_mfp_m28-m31]

The message

> io/hpmud/model.c 532: no laserjet_mfp_m28-m31 attributes
> found in /usr/share/hplip/data/models/models.dat

should disappear.

Please let us know how you go on with scanning now.

Disappear. But scanning is still very slow.

But you can scan now? Correct?

The *full* output of 'avahi-browse -rt _uscan._tcp' would still be useful.

I can scan now but I could scan before that.
My problem is that scanning is very (~40 sec between press "scan" button and actually starting the scan).

It's a full output of avahi-browse -rt _uscan._tcp:
