Sounds almost like bug 1514243, but the function name has changed.

I personally recommend upgrading to at least Ubuntu 16.04 or later since 14.04 will reach end of life in a few months from now (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases).

If you can, try Ubuntu 18.04. Although it looks like you might encounter bug 1727356 in the official release of 18.04 so you might want to use this instead: http://cdimages.ubuntu.com/bionic/daily-live/current/
