Bug Description

I'm using the latest build from 0.92+devel on Pop!_OS 18.10. On trying to open a file for the File menu, Inkscape crashes immediately after the file browsers appears (attachment). In the terminal I get the following output:

```
** (inkscape:6378): WARNING **: 21:12:30.600: Icon Loader using a future dead function in this icon: object-locked
** (inkscape:6378): WARNING **: 21:12:30.601: Icon Loader using a future dead function in this icon: object-unlocked
** (inkscape:6378): WARNING **: 21:12:30.604: Icon Loader using a future dead function in this icon: dialog-layers
Emergency save activated!
(inkscape:6378): GLib-CRITICAL **: 21:12:34.272: g_path_get_dirname: assertion 'file_name != NULL' failed
Emergency save completed. Inkscape will close now.
If you can reproduce this crash, please file a bug at www.inkscape.org
with a detailed description of the steps leading to the crash, so we can fix it.
Segmentation fault (core dumped)
```

For the past few days I've been updating religiously on a daily basis, but the issue persists with every new build.

Just now, I had the same error while opening the file attached. Terminal ouptu is exactly the same.

on Windows 10, Inkscape 0.92+devel (44a3c91, 2018-12-16), I am unable to reproduce the crash when opening an arbitrary file.

However when opening the specific file a4_reg-marks_h260 Inkscape aborts abnormally with no exit message. This is when using the setting "This file contains digital artwork" when opening the file, which is a legacy file.

Only happens for me when I'm not in Gnome.

Does this still occur if you reset your preferences file? Renaming my previous preferences.xml file seemed to stop Inkscape crashing.

In the past few days a similar issue popped up. Now Inkscape does not crash on appearance of the file browser, but after choosing one from the file browser.

Backtrace:

This happens with any type, not just SVG files by the way. If I open PNG for example, the PNG import settings dialog is shown, after confirming those details Inkscape crashes.

I'm using version 1.0alpha (unknown).
