Bug Description

Binary package hint: psi-translations

Psi translations are totally outdated, written for psi 0.10.
Now we have psi 0.11 and with the translations from 0.10 many strings are untranslated.
New translations files are here: http://psi-im.org/download/

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, Ubuntu gets its translations from the translations portion of Launchpad ([WWW] http://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu/), where translation teams work on making Ubuntu more useful in their language. If you want to change a translation in Ubuntu there is the right place.

I can't find psi at those transloation sites :(
Psi is translated via a .qt file, that is available on the link you see on top. I don't think that psi is translated like most other applications over the web interface!

The translation files are ready, they just need to be packaged in Debian and Ubuntu.

Yes. Could someone look over it, please?

And while we are at it: Why is there a special translation package? That doesn't make sense, does it? I heard this suggestion for example here: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=459645#15
It is clear that you want the translations, when you install an application. Every package behaves in that way...
Translation files are available at psi-im.org.

Any news on this topic? Unfortunately I dunno how to create a bug entry in the Debian Bug System without sending an email, so I cannot write it there directly.
Now (Psi 0.12 is out) is a good time to get rid of the psi-translation package (nobody needs it, see above) and include the translation direct into the Psi package. All translations are available from www.psi-im.org. This is no big thing and would improve the user experience a lot. Thank you!

You can use a reportbug tool (available in universe) to do it, but it would still be easier to do it by email. Don't you have an email account?

Hm, I don't want to use my private email adress for such things, and I also don't want to create a new email account for reporting one bug. :(

Don't be lazy and just create the new account. You'll likely need it to report more Debian bugs.

The problem seems to be that the maintainer of the package needs the name and email adresses and so on of every single translator. There are many very good translations at the psi homepage you can download an install by hand..

I'm marking this bug as fixed because a more recent version of psi-translations is in Maverick.
Also, there is a fork of Psi called Psi+ which is also packaged in Maverick.

# lucid (net): Translations for psi [universe]
1.9: all
also provided by: psi-plus
# maverick (net): Translations for psi [universe]
1.10: all
also provided by: psi-plus

Changed in psi-translations (Ubuntu):

Changed in psi-translations (Debian):
