Touchpad scroll does not work on occasion

Ubuntu 18.04.1 all up to date @ 11/12/2018 on kernel 4.15.0-42-generic

The scroll of the touchpad seems to be not working on occasion across several kernels and the mouse pointer goes slower then normally
reboot seems to fix this

this is dmesg right after reaching onto desktop
without using touchpad much

Maybe try the 5.4 based kernel?
