Black Screen

I am running Debian Lenny. I installed Fische from the repo's but the window that opened remained blank. I decided to compile the latest release (2.0 beta 2) but it made no difference.

This sounds like what fische does when you use an alsa playback device instead of a recording device. Can you post your alsa configuration and the command line you used?
