Bug Description

1) Ubuntu release
Description: Ubuntu 18.10
Release: 18.10

2) Package version
ibus-libpinyin:
  Installed: 1.10.0-1
  Candidate: 1.10.0-1
  Version table:
 *** 1.10.0-1 500
        500 http://my.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu cosmic/main amd64 Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

3) Typing pinyin and selecting first candidate works. Selecting another candidate results in inputting the number of the candidate instead of the Chinese character. Chinese input also fails to continue working until you switch back and forth (Pinyin -> English -> Pinyin).

4) Being able to select and input all characters displayed in the candidate window & Chinese input continually working.

Thanks for your report!

I recall the Ask Ubuntu question https://askubuntu.com/q/1053182 where the solution was to empty the cache folder:

rm ~/.cache/ibus/libpinyin/*

Can you please try that and let us know if it makes a difference?

Ok, great. Even if that's just a workaround, I close this bug. We intend to update ibus-libpinyin soon, and hopefully that will take care of this subtle issue.
