Lubuntu 18.04 cannot access network or audio menus

In Lubuntu 18.04, when the lxpanel on the bottom is on autohide, the audio and network menus are impossible to use because they disappear as soon as the mouse cursor leaves the bottom panel - very annoying. Note the substitutes that can be added to the panel via the menu are inferior so do not reply with that suggestion. I need the supplied visible applets to work.
Please fix for 18.04

Tested this, at first I didn't see the issue (I was too quick & knew what I wanted), then when I paused to read menus, yes the panel disappeared (if mouse is on menu & not over panel). I did have this issue when panel was in default (@ bottom), or moved to top of my screen.

in ~/.config/openbox/lubuntu-rc.xml would help ... it's an untidy workaround (slows all hides down), but may reduce issue... I'll play some..

Sorry. in #2 I wondered if a change to a config file would help mitigate the issue, my play didn't make any difference, so ignore my openbox 'I wonder' suggestion. unless you know more than I do :)
