Bug Description

When my HP 840 G3 is connected to its docking station only one DisplayPort is used at a time. If I disconnect the one in use, the other is enabled. Only one display is detected. I'm using a fresh installation of Ubuntu 18.10. Before, on 18.04, it worked.

Can you please try logging into "Ubuntu on Wayland" and tell us if the problem still occurs there?

The problem also occurs in Wayland.

Ps: I tried to follow https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage, maybe it needs to be updated?

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v4.20 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as "Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.

I can add an important information to this bug. If the laptop lid is open, I can correctly manage three different monitors: the built-in one and the two connected to the docking station. If the lid is closed, only one of the monitors connected to the docking station is available.
