Bug Description

Trying to reconfigure the whole system or do any other task using sudo is not working in Hardy 8.04 alpha2.
Synaptic was removed and can't be enabled in the Main menu system preferences.
In resume I can do nothing without root privileges and missing a lot sudo command in Ubuntu :-)

Are you getting any errors?

No errors, just a clean prompt line and sudo "useless"

I am testing Hardy in two desktops AMD64 with Semprom 3000+, one desktop AMN2 X64 4600+ and one laptop (MacBook Santa Rosa 2.1 version with Intel Duo core T7400 2.16 ghz and the "famous" atheros wireless driver)

This problem is happening just in one machine of the desktops, The Compaq Proliant 400 server with Centrino Mendocino pocessor , two hd sata 18.9 gb and 396 mb RAM. The problem with this machine is that I can't upgrade BIOS from Jun/2000 - F01 version but acpi function works well with kernel 2.6.24.

shyte... how do you unmark a bug as a dupe? This is not a dupe as the user stated in a thread on the ubuntu discussion forums.

I have a doubt.
Does Sudo could be affected by changes in CUPS configuration ?

Confirmed. I have the same one on my laptop. My old user accound and the new account I made both lost the administrator rights.

I had this problem too, but I think the upgrade to acpi-support 0.109 had solved it. Anyway, the problem disappeared.

I upgraded the acpi to the latest and can say that this bug is not present in my system or I didn't noticed it again.
