If, due to the nature of the issue you have encountered, you are unable to run this command, please add a comment stating that fact and change the bug status to 'Confirmed'.

This change has been made by an automated script, maintained by the Ubuntu Kernel Team.

Did this issue start happening after an update/upgrade? Was there a
prior kernel version where you were not having this particular problem?

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest
v4.19 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag:
'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as
"Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.

Tony Corbett (g0wfv) wrote : Re: Fail to wake from suspend in Ubuntu 18.10

I'm waiting for it to fail again before posting more info. Once it does I will try the upstream kernel.

But to answer the question, this was happening in 18.04 (kernel version 4.15.0-38-generic) prior to upgrade, and has failed once since upgrade to 18.10 earlier this afternoon. (But as luck would have it, it won't fail on demand for me now!)

Last time I can remember this particular system resuming from suspend reliably was probably just prior to install of 18.04 from new - previously it was running 18.04 upgraded from 17.10 (and earlier!)

I'll keep an eye on it and report back. Annoyingly, for now though, it seems to be resuming OK!

The above failure was exactly what I was originally experiencing in 18.04 with 4.15.0-38-generic; The only way to recover is to power off and back on.

The AMDGPU failure seems to be another (sporadic) issue - it's the first time I've seen it fail this way ...

More watching and testing required!
