Bug Description

Hello,

During the important phase of associating components and footprints,
when you open the windows footprint :

the autozoom to fit feature is really annoying because you cannot perceive any difference between successive footprints.

In the example (open exhibit), the 50 caps footprints appear identical.

-suppress the autozoom to fit so we can appreciate growing sizes. Make it a disabled option.

list of additional improvement :

-"pan while moving object", useless zoom option

-open the windows with the 'allways on top' attribute please

-display a carousel of prev, actual, next footprint for better comparison. A column with three smaller images.
-add a second columm for 3d images, no interaction needed.

-if you implement the caroussel, highlight the diff between pref/next names and 'actual'
Capacitor_SMD:CP_Elec_3x5.3 <=highligth 3
Capacitor_SMD:CP_Elec_4x5.3
Capacitor_SMD:CP_Elec_5x5.3 <=highligth 5

-the KLC defining more or less some mandatory dimensions, maybe you could try to display them as main X & Y 'size objects' now.

There is already a user-configurable option for this in the footprint viewer settings; see attached image.

It is odd that Franck's display window doesn't have a gear/settings icon. Is it somewhere else in the window?

Franck's window doesn't show it because he's running 5.0. It's a new feature in 5.1.

Well,

And is "allways visible" or "allways on top" frame window attribute set ?

Hope this zoom to fit checkbox is permanent.

Move to next enhancement : show the big image and three smaller images to BETTER see differences between successive footprints.

=>no it is a shitty idea
=>no open another bug request
=>yes 'in progress'

Hi Franck,

By "permanent" do you mean saved to a preference file? (Yes, it is.)

I'm not following the "one big and three small images" suggestion. Do you mean all of the same footprint, or of the current footprint and the last three viewed?

@Jeff,

something like that (exhibit). The top is the fp before the selected, center is the selected fp , bottom is the next fp.

Useful (or maybe not) when browsing similar footprints for comparing sizes.
