Bug Description
Gimp 2.10.2 on xubuntu 18.10.
Two problems:
1. When exporting a .jpg image, that has a thumbnail image, to the desktop, the thumbnail, which should be displayed in portrait is changed to landscape. This is new to gimp 2.10.
2. Small .jpg images exported to the desktop, with or without a thumbnail, do not show the icon. This is a gimp problem. If I use Shutter to save a .jpg image to the desktop, the thumbnail show correctly. However, gimp does not save the image correctly "or" xfce4 does not render it correctly.

GIMP 2.10 isn't included in Ubuntu 18.04 and is therefore unsupported. However, by the output from the bug report, you're using 18.10 (for testing purposes, I'm guessing)? If so, I recommend editing your bug description.
