Bug Description

While transferring large amounts of files from an old fileserver (debian sid) to a new fileserver (running ubuntu 7.10 - 64bit server) i got a kernel oops (happened already 2 times, updated kernel to the latest security version of today in between)
The new server storage is a 5 disk software raid 5 with XFS as filesystem. The oops occurs after a long time (approximately 100G of data at 30M/s ~ couple of hours)
Since i dont know how to make a text-dump of it I took pictures of the screen (see oops-screen1 through 3)
All the extra information can be found in the log files that accompany it.

my bad! Just ran memtest against the suspect machine and it seems there is a faulty memory module! Going to run a new transfer during the night, if in the next 24 there is no report from me this can be closed.

This is not a bug in the linux-meta package, moving to the linux package.

This turned out to be a memory problem, so we can mark this Invalid.

affects: linux-meta (Ubuntu) → linux (Ubuntu)
Changed in linux (Ubuntu):
