Bug Description

Hi,
I tried to install Ubuntu 18.04 on a system with MSI X370 SLI PLUS motherboard (Bios Version 7A33v3C of 2018-05-04), Ryzen 7 1700 and Nvidia GT 1030 graphics card.

The 18.04 LiveDVDs do not work at all. There is no display output.

On BIOS version 7A33v39 of 2018-01-29 MSI put the note:
It must install nvidia graphic driver ver 391.01 or latest version when using AMD Raven Ridge CPU and nVidia graphic card.

It looks like that the current nouveau driver, used by 18.04 LiveDVDs, blocks the display output.

But, an old LiveDVD of Kubuntu 17.04 starts and Kubuntu seems to be working. I have recorded the attached lshw data with that disk.
Thanks,

Installation of Ubuntu 18.04 desktop is not possible. There is no display output at all.
Info: At the same prepared multi-boot-system Windows works well.

Test result with an old Radeon HD4050 graphics card: Ubuntu LiveDVDs run well.

Thanks for fast answer. Downloaded latest image 2018-07-23 available.

The nouveau driver of that image works. Ubuntu Desktop could be installed now.

ubuntu@ubuntu:~$ uname -a
Linux ubuntu 4.15.0-23-generic #25-Ubuntu SMP Wed May 23 18:02:16 UTC 2018 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
ubuntu@ubuntu:~$ lspci -nnk | grep -i VGA -A2
29:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: NVIDIA Corporation GP108 [10de:1d01] (rev a1)
Subsystem: Micro-Star International Co., Ltd. [MSI] GP108 [GeForce GT 1030] [1462:8c98]
 Kernel driver in use: nouveau

Hopefully the driver and corrected nvidia driver version will be distributed soon.

Just tried Ubuntu 18.04.1 LiveCD. LiveCD starts applications can be executed.

However, after installation of 18.04.1 just the graphical login screen was displayed. I can enter user and password but after pressing enter the login screen always is displayed again and again.

But I could login by terminal (ALT-CTL-F2). So I performed apt-get install nvidia-384.
The command replaced the installed the nouveau driver and installed the nvidia 390-48 driver.

Now I can login on graphical login screen without problems.
