Bug Description

I am SSHing into a CentOS server and trying to use byobu with neovim. If I just launch tmux, I can run nvim without problem. But if I launch byobu first, it crashes with [lost-server] and I can no longer see waht Im typing in to the prompt (if I type exit and press enter though, Im kicked out of SSH).

Version Information:
byobu version 5.73
tmux 1.8
NVIM v0.3.0 and v0.3.1
centos-release-7-4.1708.el7.centos.x86_64

Side note:

I dont know if this related, but for some reaosn byobu doesnt show time or date in my status bar, even though i have it selected to show. It correctly shows UTC time though. IF I just launch tmux though, its status bar DOES show time/date correctly.

Hmm, those versions of Byobu (5.73) and Tmux (1.8) are absolutely ancient. Any chance you can reproduce this with modern, supported versions?

Changed in byobu:
importance: Undecided → Low
status: New → Incomplete

This still happens on Ubuntu 18.04 with

neovim: 0.2.2-3
tmux: 2.6-3ubuntu0.2
byobu: 5.125-0ubuntu1

Nvm, I only have the problem when I connect to a 14.04 machine, then start byobu, then connect to a 18.04 machine, and then start neovim. So the correct (14.04) versions of tmux and byoubu are

tmux: 1.8.5
byobu: 5.77-0ubuntu1.2

If I connect to the 18.04 machine directly, then start byobu + neovim (with the versions as in my previous comment), no problems, so I guess this issue is fixed!
