hidden bar won't reappear with maximized windows

When i set the bar to hide when not in use the bar sometimes hide but won't show up again when i maximized window is on top of it. This forces me to go to a different viewport and open the dock from there.

This are my behavior settings:

hide: yes
all others: no

Okay, I'm guessing this is due to the maximised window covering the invisible 'hotspot' that awn uses to tell it that the mouse is near the bottom of the screen. Can I ask which window manager you are using, as normally the hotspot window will stay above all others, so it shouldn't matter that you've maximised the window...

I'm using Ubuntu Linux Gutsy Gibbon with the Gnome Desktop Environment. I use desktop effects so that makes Compiz Fusion the window manager. The strange thing is. The problem only occours when I auto launch it at startup. When I launch is manually it works perfectly....
