Bug Description

Installed KiCad 5 from http://ppa.launchpad.net/js-reynaud/kicad-5/ubuntu in Ubuntu 16.04, when having a look at the footprint editor I was not able to get the 3d view of some components (28 pin DIP socket and THT resistor), after further inspection I found that the paths in KiCad do not match the installed files.

28 pin DIP socket
In pcbnew, selecting Preferences -> Manage Footprint Libraries..., I can see several libraries with names nickname Housing_*, Library Path ${KGITHUB}/Housings_*.pretty (as can be seen in the attached picture), but no Housings_* libraries are installed in my system nor could I find them in the Github footprint libraries listed in https://kicad.github.io/footprints/, I was able to found Package_* libraries that seem to be the correct ones.

Resistor
I found a 3d file set as

${KISYS3DMOD}/Resistors_THT.3dshapes/R_Axial_DIN0207_L6.3mm_D2.5mm_P7.62mm_Horizontal.wrl,
but the corresponding directory in my system has a different name (no "s" for "Resistor"):

/usr/share/kicad/modules/packages3d/Resistor_THT.3dshapes/R_Axial_DIN0207_L6.3mm_D2.5mm_P7.62mm_Horizontal

Package versions:
kicad: 5.0.0-stable-201807191034+fee4fd1~65~ubuntu16.04.1
kicad-footprints: 5.0.0-rc3-201807020856+f819d3f~9~ubuntu16.04.1
kicad-packages3d: 5.0.0-rc3-201807020917+d61e664~7~ubuntu16.04.1

Forgot to mention, it was not a clean installation but an upgrade from Kicad 4.

This is a library "issue"

There has been a really big renaming from V4 to V5. I would recommend you remove all the V4 libraries, and replace your components "as you go".̈́

If you would like to have both sets of libraries you can copy the content of your old packages3D folder into the new one

I had removed V4 packages (kicad-library) after installing V5 ones (kicad-libraries). Removing all of them and reinstalling V5 fixed my issue, I think it can be closed now.

It seems that upgrading a design from V4 to V5 requires quite a bit of work, tough.
