Bug Description

Binary package hint: xorg

Booting Hardy Alpha 2 Desktop Live CD (md5sum and burning verified) on my Dell Inspiron 6400 with an Ati Mobility Radeon X1400, I get this error message:

/etc/gdm/failsafeXServer: line47: [:too many arguments
Warning: Could not retrieve EDID because get-edid is not installed (1): error: this program does not know how to configure the "10 shared/default-x-server doesn't exist" X server
Warning: Could not generate /etc/X11/xorg.conf.failsafe for vesa driver.

Of course, X doesn't start. Xorg.0.log and xorg.conf are attached.

sudo dpkg-reconfigure server-xorg doesn't fix the problem: it just skips any question regarding monitor configuration.

This bug is not fixed yet in current daily build.
