This bug is missing log files that will aid in diagnosing the problem. While running an Ubuntu kernel (not a mainline or third-party kernel) please enter the following command in a terminal window:

apport-collect 1782470

and then change the status of the bug to 'Confirmed'.

If, due to the nature of the issue you have encountered, you are unable to run this command, please add a comment stating that fact and change the bug status to 'Confirmed'.

This change has been made by an automated script, maintained by the Ubuntu Kernel Team.

As I am unable to connect to the net, obviously the command apport-collect failed. The kernel response is given below:

cgmei@cgmei-Inspiron-5370:~$ apport-collect 1782470
ERROR: connecting to Launchpad failed: Unable to find the server at launchpad.net
You can reset the credentials by removing the file "/home/cgmei/.cache/apport/launchpad.credentials"

My network device as in lspci is below:

Network controller: Qualcomm Atheros Device 0042 (rev 31)
 Subsystem: Dell Device 1810
 Flags: fast devsel, IRQ 255
 Memory at df000000 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) [disabled] [size=2M]
 Capabilities: <access denied>

Changed in network-manager (Ubuntu):
status: New → Confirmed

Boot into the kernel with working internet, in terminal do

sudo apt-get install --reinstall linux-modules-extra-4.15.0-24

Reboot and see if wireless works

Yup! reinstalling worked. But it crashed on some other error. I sent the report. Do I need to send the apport report?
