Bug Description

Binary package hint: knetworkmanager

Just this, I updated the system from feisty to hardy

And now knetwork manger doesn't show my wired ethernet card (only network card I have)
Network connection works correctly.

Probably ether config issue or bug in networkmanager

Gutsy network-manager was changed to only manage interfaces that are not defined in /etc/network/interfaces file.

You should comment out your wired interface in order to be managed in knetworkmanager.

You are absolutely right, commenting out the interface
puts it back to NetworkManager screen.

I actually agree with this change, since I never used networkmanager
And it is probably redundant with wired interfaces.
But now it is improved a lot, and thus I probably leave eth0 commented in
/etc/network/interfaces.

Although I will loose the ifup/ifdown command this way...
Maybe it is better to have an opt-in option for dual control (both ifup and networkmanager) ?

Should this bug be closed?

Thanks for the information

network-manager 0.7 should have better support for static network and may improve in this area.
I will close the bug for now, as nothing can be done for gutsy (user can decide what to use for his network: network-manager or /etc/network/interfaces)

Changed in knetworkmanager:
