Bug Description

In KDE 3, it doesn’t seem to matter whether I set my mouse left- or right-handed, it’ll remain right-handed. This is on Hardy, with the 7.3 X.org. The mouse is a normal optical mouse with a tail, USB-driven. Up until Gutsy, this worked perfectly.

Do you mean that the (radio) options "Right handed" and "Left handed" are grayed out in the Mouse settings (in System Settings / Keyboard & Mouse)? (That's the case for me on Hardy)

Nope, they’re active, but they do nothing after applying.

The only way I could get around it is to set right-handed and mess with my ButtonOrder in xorg.conf — oh, in fact, left-handed and reversed ButtonOrder means right-handed as it should, just the normal way of doing things doesn’t work (which is setting left-handed, and leaving ButtonOrder intact at the default "1 2 3").

According to the upstream bug report, this should be fixed in KDE 3.5.9, as well as in 4.0 and 4.1. Can you check if this is still a problem for you on Hardy?

Works since a fresh install of the released, non-beta Hardy. Things must have been fixed sometime after my hack on my configs :)
