Steps to repro:
Start Mixxx
Open Preferences
Click Equalizers section
Click RESTORE DEFAULTS at bottom of Equalizers Preferences
CLick EQ Effect dropdown
change EQ Effect dropdown from Biquad Full Kill EQ to None
Click OK or APPLY at bottom of Equalizers Preferences
Mixxx crashes every time

Before hitting APPLY, can you position the preferences window so that you see the EQ knobs in the mixer and describe what you see when you apply the changes?
IIRC you can drag windows not only with the titlebar but also while holding a modifier (Alt, Ctrl, or both) and then click and drag anywhere in the window on Win and Linux, probably also on OSX
