Bug Description

I draw a simple circle or rectangle on the canvas and save as plain svg.

** ERROR **: file xml/simple-node.cpp: line 363 (virtual void Inkscape::XML::SimpleNode::addChild(Inkscape::XML::Node*, Inkscape::XML::Node*)): assertion failed: (!child->parent())
aborting...

Saving as inkscape SVG works normally.

I can confirm it even for an empty file (meaning I didn't create any new objects, just saved the newly opened file).

By the way, why got this bug attached to Ubuntu? Does this bug happen in the last release 0.45.1 too?

I'm don't know who attached this bug to Ubuntu. It was only introduced recently (Dec 2007) and certainly doesn't occur in 0.45.1. I'm setting the status to "Fix Committed" but maybe even "Fix Released" is appropriate. Feel free to change it again.
