Placing components is "lagging" when ERC dialog is open

Steps to reproduce:

1: open any schematic
2: open ERC dialog (optional, run ERC)
3: while ERC dialog is open, press "press Symbol"
4: select any symbol (PWR_Flag was my choice)
5: try placing it.

Application: kicad
Version: 5.0.0-rc3-unknown-3df2743~65~ubuntu18.04.1, release build
