After putting my laptop to suspend (lid down), it does not wake up again

I am using Ubuntu 16.04. After putting my laptop to suspend (lid down), it does not wake up again. This does not happen when I lock it (windows key + L) it resumes operation on keypress. This has started happening around 1 month ago, I am not exactly sure. This is an Asus K501UW

Did this issue start happening after an update/upgrade? Was there a prior kernel version where you were not having this particular problem?

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v4.18 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as "Confirmed".

There was no upgrade done. In terms of the update unless a "sudo apt update" counts I don't think anything was done.

I was in the process of trying to test the upstream kernel but I don't think I did it completely. However, the problem seems to no longer exist. Could you please check to ensure that the problem no longer seems to continue.
