Bug Description

I am running HPLIP using the 3.18.5 version on Linux Mint 18.3 (Ubuntu 16.04), 4.15.023 kernel and an HP Color LasterJet M254nw.

Sometimes, unfortunately I could determine what the exact circumstances have to be (the problem appears or disappears when printing the same document again), the last few pages will not be printed.

In exchange the printer prints a blank page with the following text in the top left corner

ERROR:
undefined
OFFENDING COMMAND:
....Undefined
STACK:

-mark-

Unfortunately, that does not help me in any favour.

If I can deliver any further info, please let me know.

Hi Santoash,

thanks for your fast reply.
Sure, for example printing the following page (https://www.objectstyle.com/agile/agile-scrum-kanban-lean-xp-comparison) out of firefox or printing the attached document (using evince) caused the error.

But as I said, just sometimes....

Best regards
björn

Hi Santosh,

today I experienced the bug again, printing the attached document.

But now, the page looks like this and as you see, there are no 0 now

ERROR:
undefined
OFFENDING COMMAND:
....Undefined
STACK:

The last thing printed is on page 21 the following part:

void *BTTTranslate(uint32 pc)
{

However, the left side of the page is fully printed.

Hope that helps, best regards
Björn

I'm experiencing the same bug on an M255dw on hplip 3.20.6 on Fedora. It seems that the error occurs near the end of the document. If I print a very long document, it occurs in its last couple of pages. If I only print a small part of the document, it occurs in the last few pages of the part.

I also get the impression that if the document pages are longer (more bytes per page), the error occurs in the last page or two, whereas if the pages are simpler and shorter (less bytes per page), the error occurs e.g. 6 pages before the end.

Just a note to say that after switching from using WiFi to using USB, this problem went away for me.

I have this problem since a week. Switching from Wifi to USB doesn't help. And this happens with any documents except .odt or other Libreoffice documents.

Also tried removing and running hplip again.

I'm running Linux Mint 20.2

Printer is m428fdw

hplip-3.21.10

Some info here, but I'm not competent:

Other forums (even with Xerox or Lexmark printers) mention that this error is due to the presence of an image in the document. Which makes sense. This is, why how what ?

The following offending commands indicate a problem with bitmap data:

colorimage
image
imagemask (associated with 1-bit image bitmap graphics and bitmap fonts)
