Bug Description

Binary package hint: linux-rt

Hi. I installed the updated linux-rt kernel and, after a restart, my Atheros AR2413 is gone from the network manager applet (it used to work perfectly with the previous rt kernel). It works perfectly on the regular kernel, but is not detected when running the Realtime kernel. lspci does report the card, but is gone from the network manager applet. Again, this only happens when I boot using the updated realtime kernel.

This bug was reported against the linux-meta package when it likely should have been reported against the linux package instead. We are automatically transitioning this to the linux kernel package so that the appropriate teams are notified and made aware of this issue. Thanks.

affects: linux-meta (Ubuntu) → linux (Ubuntu)

Unfortunately it seems this bug is still an issue. Can you confirm this issue exists with the most recent Jaunty Jackalope 9.04 release - http://www.ubuntu.com/news/ubuntu-9.04-desktop . If the issue remains in Jaunty, Please run the following command from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux-image-2.6.28-11-generic <bug #>

If you could also test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine this issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results.

Thanks in advance.

Can confirm in Ubuntu 10.04; Works with the ath5k drivers but very sporadically - connectivity is poor, range is poor and there is heavy packet loss.
On trying out the madwifi drivers and the ath_pci drivers (through ubuntu's hardware drivers feature) wireless does not connect to a network.
Can confirm the bug in the latest release of Linux mint also.
