Can't save keyboard settings

Bug Description

Binary package hint: kde

When I save my keyboard settings in 'Systemeinstellungen' (don't know the english term :( ), they will lost after the next reboot.

Use Kubuntu - Hardy...

From kde.log:

The XKEYBOARD keymap compiler (xkbcomp) reports:
> Warning: Type "ONE_LEVEL" has 1 levels, but <RALT> has 2 symbols
> Ignoring extra symbols
Errors from xkbcomp are not fatal to the X server

I wonder if somehow the settings file has become owned by someone else (e.g. root).

I'm not sure which file contains the settings, but if you can run the command (in your home directory, as yourself) 'find . -user root' or 'find . -not -user $USER' (without the single quotes), you can check if this is the case.
