Undo while routing a net/track

Bug Description

When routing a net and placing down corners and vias, the only way to change a route is to cancel routing and then either undo or delete. I find that I need to change my corners or via position often when routing and it's slow to have to cancel and start over. It would be much easier and sensible if every mouse click entered when routing could be undone by the backspace (preferred) or CTRL-Z so that we don't have to leave routing. I noticed that the zone borders already have this implemented so I can back out of corners with the backspace.

Probably a duplicate of already existing bug. Will happen sometimes in v6 dev cycle.

I appreciate that, but I so wish it could come sooner as it makes routing so much easier and is part of the Legacy toolset. CTRL-Z already implements this behavior, albeit, after routing has been cancelled, if that is any help.

I found these related bugs:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/kicad/+bug/1766280
https://bugs.launchpad.net/kicad/+bug/1688074

I think there was a question about what the behavior should be. I would say that the backspace reverses the last mouse click just as it would erase the last keypress.

Overall, devs have been great with taking in ideas and implementing the easy tasks. Thanks!

Hi Folks,

It's been 3 years since I brought up this missing feature, I'm a little surprised that it hasn't been implemented yet given the simplicity of it and that the feature used to exist and has been promised for a while. While it's not a game changer, it is standard CAD routing behavior and even the zone creation tool has it. Can v6 get it please? Thanks

Hi Robert.

This bug was marked as a duplicate of bug number 1597020, as is stated above, and bug 1597020 was migrated to gitlab as https://gitlab.com/kicad/code/kicad/-/issues/2028, and says that the bug was fixed in the following commit https://gitlab.com/kicad/code/kicad/-/commit/4525a17076aa5e256de99851998b91df47366b8c about a year ago.

If this bug has reapeared, please add a comment to the above listed gitlab bug, or create a new issue at gitlab at https://gitlab.com/kicad/code/kicad/-/issues/new and mention the other gitlab issue number.

KiCAD has been moved to gitlab for bugtracking and development at https://gitlab.com/kicad, and doesn't use launchepad for development and bugtracking anymore

Hi Niki,

Thanks for the update, looks like it's slated for v6. I can give that a try to see how it goes.

And thanks to the developers who added this back in!
