Bug Description

“This test will check that Storage options work as expected
Not sure we should have this sentence here. It seems to suggest we “go back” to the application we used in the previous section (as that is what normally happens when we have a sentence like this).

“Insert a CD or DVD containing data files into an appropriate drive
The disc appears in the File Manager side pane but is unmounted”
Perhaps make this part optional-but-no-reason-to-fail? Many modern pc’s/laptops don’t have a drive anymore, I believe.
If we do, then that impacts the next sentence (and others as well), like “Right-click on both of those media in File Manager and select 'Eject'
They disappear from the side pane”

“Insert the USB drive and optical disc again
Both media appear in the side pane of File Manager and are automatically mounted but no contents are displayed in the File Manager window”

Can only do that if we have first removed them - which step is not present.

“Both media appear in the side pane of File Manager and are automatically mounted but no contents are displayed in the File Manager window” - and shouldn’t there also be a message from the panel about media having been mounted?

“Insert the USB drive and optical disc again”
Can only do that if we have first removed them.

“Check the 'Burn a CD or DVD when a blank disc is inserted' option under 'Blank CDs and DVDs'
The two 'Command' fields become active and are pre-populated with an 'xfburn' command
Insert a blank recordable CD or DVD into an RW optical drive
A dialog appears asking for confirmation to burn the disc”
Make this part optional?

“Click the 'Multimedia' tab”
So we are back in “Removable Drives and Media” dialogue again?

“This test will check that the Multimedia options work as expected
Click the 'Multimedia' tab
Options for Audio CDs, Video CDs/DVDs and Portable Music Players are displayed
Note: portable music player formats vary too greatly to allow a standardized test to be included here
Ensure that both the Audio and Video options are checked and that there is a default command for Parole in the 'Command:' fields
Ensure that the 'Mount removable media when inserted' option is checked under the 'Storage' tab
Insert pre-recorded audio and video discs in an optical drive
The discs play automatically after they are inserted
Eject the discs
Uncheck the options to play when inserted and insert the discs again
The discs will not play automatically but will behave according to the current settings under the Storage tab for removable media”
Could we change this test to work with USB-keys as they seem to me to be more prevalent nowadays than CD/DVD?
Also: portable music players, are they still current?
“The last four tabs, 'Cameras', 'PDAs', 'Printers' and 'Input Devices' do not require testing”
I had a look at the PDAs tab. Seems outdated? Palm and PocketPC… perhaps the devs should remove that tab?

All during the test I had the “File manager Preferences” dialogue floating in my screen. Not sure whether that’s expected? It remained in front of the file manager. I believe we could do this test also if that dialogue were closed; so we could ask the tester to do that after we are done with that dialogue – less clutter for the tester.

Happy for you to do this.

Re things like cd's - maybe we could move the 'If you don't have foo - this bit is optional' to the end
