Tried to install gimp 2.10 from ppa with synaptic, had several errors, so I had to uninstall the old gimp plugins first, and then install 2.10. Remaining error was "gimp plugin registry"

The cause is the incorrectly created .deb file in the PPA. As such, installations from PPAs are not supported.
