Bug Description

From the forums:

"I've been happily using Inkscape for a number of years. However, recently I updated Lubuntu to 18.04. Since then, within a few minutes of using Inkscape, it would freeze, then display an error. Even on new images - e.g. draw an ellipse, convert object to path, then after a few minutes of adjusting the paths, Inkscape would crash.

Worried the "in place" upgrade of Lubuntu may have caused the issue, I wiped my system and installed Lubuntu 18.04 fresh and Inkscape (0.92.3 (2405546, 2018-03-11) from the repository. Unfortunately, I'm getting the same issue.

Running Inkscape from the command line, I see the following:

(inkscape:2605): GLib-GIO-CRITICAL **: 17:55:31.552: g_dbus_proxy_new: assertion 'G_IS_DBUS_CONNECTION (connection)' failed

This most often happens when adjusting paths - and most of the time within a few minutes of work.

Has anyone seen this issue recently and is there a fix - as sadly Inkscape is unusable on my system at the moment. I'm guessing there's a bug in this version of Inkscape?"

For me, the crashes were with the version in the official Ubuntu 18.04 repository. I uninstalled it and added the stable PPA (https://launchpad.net/~inkscape.dev/+archive/ubuntu/stable). So far this updated version hasn't crashed for me.

Interesting. Aren't they the same versions?... 0.92.3 should be the number for both. Is that correct, slumbergod?

Maybe something went wrong when compiling the Ubuntu official package, then?

no longer affects: ubuntu
