Installed when prompted by Ubuntu. This seems to have been a failure owing to /boot being jam-packed with other kernels.

You may need to run the following from a terminal:

sudo apt-get install -f
sudo apt-get clean
sudo apt-get update

Then re-install the package or updates.

If that does not resolve your issue, please mark the bug as "Confirmed"

Thanks Joseph. The upgrade ground through after all (there were a couple of other auto-generated reports I think). I've followed your advise, though the system seems stable anyway.
