Bug Description

Initially the error also included canberra, after installing it with:

sudo apt install libcanberra-gtk-module:i386

I then got only this error:

Running Steam on ubuntu 18.04 64-bit
STEAM_RUNTIME is enabled automatically
Pins up-to-date!

and then re-installing steam,

No idea how to solve this. Initially when I installed steam it worked fine. I didnt use steam for a few weeks, updated ubuntu a few times in that few weeks, was surprised by the error when I tried to use steam again.

I dont know if this is really a bug, but I had an error on ubuntu telling me there was a problem and asked if I wanted to report the bug so I said yes. Id really like to get steam working again without re-installing ubuntu.

Thanks for your report.

This is due to a conflict with steam-launcher which is not part of the Ubuntu repository. Please remove this package and try again. If you have problems installing Steam from the upstream debian package please report a bug on upstream's bug tracker (https://github.com/ValveSoftware/steam-for-linux)

I'm closing this report because it is not a bug with Ubuntu, but do not hesitate to submit any bug you may find.
