Did this issue start happening after an update/upgrade? Was there a prior kernel version where you were not having this particular problem?

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v4.17 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as "Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

This problem exists since the upgrade from kernel 4.15.0-15 to kernel 4.15.0-20.

I just received an update from MintUpdate that reinstalled this kernel 4.15.0-20 and now it works again.

It's just a problem when I put my G35 headset on a USB port and remove it. By doing this 2x operation (plugging in and unplugging the 2x headphones), I find myself with the sound set to "S / PDIF Internal Audio Digital Output" instead of HDMI / Display Port 3 HDA Nvidia " but is a lot less serious problem.

Best regards.
