Installed Ubuntu 7.1 - Internal ERR Failed to initialize HAL

Binary package hint: gnome-terminal

Installed Ubuntu 7.1 on 2 different Laptops,
get this error after booting
Internal error Failed to initalize HAL.

Tried to enable HAL service but its not
available under System- ADmin- Services
