Bug Description

When trying to install the "espeakup" with "sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install espeakup" gives error and does not conclude. It seems that the error is that the installer expects that the "speakup_soft" module is already loaded and when it is not (which is very common) the error occurs (there is no error loading the module before installation "sudo modprobe speakup_soft && sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install espeakup"); the installation should not crash due to the lack of the "speakup_soft" module, it should only give an alert indicating that it would be interesting for the user to load the "speakup_soft" module.

Thank you for your bug report. Looks like the issue has been fixed in newer versions/Ubuntu series

It might be a candidate for LTS SRU though but probably low priority since it seems we didn't get much reports about the issue and it's probably not the most installed package by our users

Changed in espeakup (Ubuntu):
importance: Undecided → Low
status: Confirmed → Fix Released
