Bug Description

Binary package hint: xfce4-terminal

I just set up Xubuntu Hardy in Virtual Box, and one of the first things I noticed is that xfce4-terminal is totally unusable, the window is not drawn correctly, there are three scroll bars which fade among the window, the fonts are multicolor and blurry...
Except the terminal, every other window renders correctly.

I'll attach some screenshots soon.

It would be great if someone of the xubuntu testers team could confirm this.

I can also confirm that xfce4-terminal in Hardy Heron while using VirtualBox is all messed up. I installed aterm and eterm and both of them run fine and look fine. We need somebody that is not testing Xubuntu 8.04 in Virtual Box to see if it just a virtualbox problem or a problem with the xfce4-terminal package itself.

Downloaded Xubuntu Hardy Heron 20071216 MD5SUMS checked O.K.
Booted CD Live, Check CD for defects no errors found.
Ran CD Live on 1.2 gHz Celeron, old Phillips 150P2 LCD screen 1024x768 terminal ran as expected.
Ran CD Live on 2.0 P4 IBM NetVista, Hanns-g HC174A 1280x1024 terminal ran as expected.
Ran CD Live on IBM Thinkpad R31 laptop terminal ran as expected.
Installed on 1.2 gHz Celeron, terminal ran as expected.

This is a quad boot: Windoze, Xubuntu Hardy, Ubuntu Hardy, Ubuntu Feisty.
Existing Hardy Heron bugs previously reported on Launchpad still there, example
1. installed splash is all screwed up and tries to display 1280x1024 on this 1024x768 max capable LCD which obviously will never work,
2. network mangler disables eth0 on boot so have to manually select wired connection,
3. shutdown hangs instead of powering off,
4. install changes UUID's so booting existing other installations fsck fails stopping boot,
... I'll check some other launchpad bugs presently like Bluetooth (I don't have any such devices) too high priority slows video's way down, etc.

Someone on IRC could not reproduce this, it might be a virtual box issue.

This is a Virtual Box issue, marking this as invalid. Shloud be fixed in newer versions of Virtual Box.

I don't think this is a virtual box issue as it happens on my TP600e. The problem includes the blacked out title bar and window decorations (they are fine in every other app). I also get the same problem in child windows (the xfce4-terminal options screen) and get strange yello/orange lines when i open another window over the top of the terminal.

Here's another one, not black this time but strange and corrupted looking.. As i previously said, this is not on virtual box, but a real thinkpad 600e. Not sure if this is the same bug or should i report a new different bug?

I would be better if you opened a new bug report. This one was really a problem with virtualbox.
