Session crashes, returning to login screen

Sometimes, while using my computer, everything on the screen just freezes (but audio keeps playing) and then a couple seconds later, everything is black (and audio stops at this point), and then I am brought back to the login screen. In addition, the numlock light on my keyboard is lit up, but numlock is actually turned off, requiring me to hit the numlock key again. I don't know if using two HDMI monitors at once is relevant or not.
