@james beedy,

This is an interesting corner case :) Thank you for the report.

It looks like the model cannot be destroyed as its only application has all units in error state. We should address this.

Meanwhile, as a workaround, have you tried removing the application (or individual units) before attempting to destroy the whole model?

@anastasia-macmood I've tried everything I can think of. @uros-jovanovic has even taken a stab it it to no avail.

Other users on my team are hitting this now and we have a good deal of models stuck in destroying on all of our controllers.

Interesting results when trying to deploy mariadb and gitlab charms [0], things don't seem to clean up properly and I hit this error [1] with a CAAS model.

The errors in the pastebins show i/o timeouts talking to 54.186.60.236 which is probably the k8s master node. It does appear to be issues with the underlying cluster and/or cloud on which k8s is running. You'll need to look at k8s logs and/or CDK logs to see what's happening. Juju is just reporting the errors.

We have done a lot of work in 2.6 around destroying models, applications and units.

Some of this work was related to fixing corner case, other parts to introducing a 'force' option to destruction commands.

It would be great to hear if 2.6 fixes your case, @james beedy ! If normal destruction commands err out, please try '--force'.

If the problem persist, please provide a clearly reproducible scenario as well as controller logs. I'll mark this report as Fix Committed.

(If difficulties with CAAS models persist, it might be worthwhile to file a separate report.)
