Previous upgrades 16.04,16.10,17.04,17.10. Current 17.10 to 18.04

To get past the upgrade error , (Not sure if this is correct) but this is what I did

sudo apt-get remove libp11-kit-gnome-keyring

I had previously additionally installed MATE desktop, so to avoid any conflicts I removed it too.
sudo apt-get remove mate-desktop

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
sudo apt dist-upgrade
update-manager -d
The last part said said it was all up to date.

I don't know how to force the 18.04 upgrade to run again.

I am faced the same problem when I try to upgrade from 17.10 to 18.04, but after running the following commands, libp11-kit-gnome-keyring installed successfully, and my computer boot OK. So far, it is OK.

sudo apt-get remove --purge libp11-kit-gnome-keyring
sudo apt-get install libp11-kit-gnome-keyring
sudo dpkg --configure -a
