Bug Description
Kubuntu 18.04 beta 20180404, installed to a virtual machine (Virtualbox 5.2.4, Kubuntu 17.10 host) for testing purposes.
I started the machine and since toolbar indicated there were updates, I launched discover. I clicked "Update All" to install all updates and the button text temporarily changed to "Cancel" but barely for long enough to notice. Then it changed back to "Update All". No updates were done.
I retried several times with the same result. The final retry made the button change permanently to "Cancel" with static "Tasks (0%)" display at the bottom left corner. Nothing happened according to UI and top. I had to kill the process.
I was able to update packages with apt-get without any problems.
I have successfully used discover twice before to update packages in this same installation.
I see lines such as
couldn't find resource for "libtsan0;
in my ~/.xsession-errors. The lines appear to match the packages for which updates were available. The set of lines also seems to be repeated for about as many times as I retried the update.
