I was simply running an update, and the error reporting app started...not a clue what the error actually is...

You have a syntax error at the end of your /etc/samba/smb.conf configuration file:

(...)

[vdrive]
comment = network share folder
path = /vdrive

[]

The last two lines ("com" and "[]") are incorrect.
