Bug Description

Binary package hint: kaffeine

Running Kaffeine 0.8.5 on an up-to-date Kubuntu Hardy on a system with an M-Audio Audiophile 24/96 card.

Kaffeine will not play sound at the same time as any other application. If I play something in Kaffeine then try to play something at the same time with another application (I've tried mplayer, VLC and Amarok), the other application will not output any sound.

If I run the other applications when Kaffeine is not running, all output sound correctly and can play multiple sounds simultaneously. If I then start Kaffeine and try to play a sound in Kaffeine, Kaffeine crashes.

It is the same issue on my system. Ubuntu Hardy, Kernel 2.6.24-12 with Kaffeine 0.8.6.
When starting Kaffeine first the sound for all other applications is blocked.
But when starting Kafeine last it works. No crashes.

Is this symptom still reproducible in 8.10?
