Bug Description

Almost every time I am playing a video in Kaffeine and switch to another application and then switch back to the kaffeine window the whole X crashes and restarts.
I have not seen any difference if the video is paused or if the kaffeine windows is minimized before switching to the other application.

I am running Kubuntu 8.04 alpha with all updates to this moment and my computer is a Dell Latitude D510 with integrated Intel video controller. I had no such problems while running Kubuntu 7.10 nor after I initially upgraded to hardy alpha. The problems started only after I clean reinstalled the Kubuntu 8.04 alpha from cd.

I noticed that after that the video driver in the xorg.conf has changed to "intel" after the clean reinstall.

This is also happening to me, both with Kaffeine and MythTV. I am running Kubuntu 8.04 alpha on an Acer Aspire 5630- the intel driver did not have this problem on Gutsy.

The Intel graphics is an Intel Mobile 845GM/GMS.

I can report that I am no longer experiencing this bug under the latest Kubuntu alpha. I presume of the updates fixed the issue.

I can reproduce this reliably with Hardy. PC is a Dell Inspiron 640m with Intel 945GM chipset. Never had this problem with Gutsy.

Please look at the log from Xorg, the backtrace of the crash is at the end of the file.

Same here, on a Toshiba Satellite Pro A100-PSAAA
(i945GM). This was working well under Gutsy.

Is this symptom still reproducible in 8.10?
